University Architect, Lilia Y. Gonzales

GonzalesMs. Lilia Y. Gonzales ’94 serves as the University Architect and leads the Office of the University Architect. She provides leadership and direction on planning, architecture, landscape architecture, historic preservation, and ensures that development of and changes to the built environment meet standards. She is integral in the campus planning process and is responsible for interpreting, implementing, monitoring and coordinating the development of the Campus Master Plan and District Plans.

Gonzales serves on the Council for the Built Environment and as the chair of the Design Review Sub-council of the Council for the Built Environment.

She holds a Bachelor of Environmental Design (B.E.D) degree and a Master of Architecture degree; both from Texas A&M University.

Gonzales previously served as the Director of Planning and Development for the University of North Texas System and as an associate at Merriman Associates/Architects Incorporated.

She is a Registered Architect in the State of Texas, and a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professional LEED AP BD+C (Building Design + Construction).

Gonzales is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Association of University Architects, and the Society for College and University Planning.

She enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, and photography.
